My Story…
Hey I am TC. I am a fitness enthusiast who had tried quite a few things from weight training, strength training, Yoga, distance running completing 2 full marathons to kettlebells. I grew up in Singapore and now ended up in Perth, Western Australia pursing my passion in The University of Western Australia in the area of sport & exercise science.
How did I end up being passionate about fitness training?
I always enjoyed sports when I was in my youth playing competitive 1st team basketball in high school. It was basketball all the way for me and I was a big NBA basketball fan. I was skinny and weak then. You know the kind that did not have a lot muscle and strength. I was pushed around a lot I think.
When I was in my late teen and still scrawny, something that happened in a train ride that I have not forgotten and I believe had got me where I am today. I don’t think I ever forget. Believe me I was beaten up quite badly. I was pulled out of the train by a big guy and was bashed up badly and extorted and ended up with a swollen face like a pig head. I lost my pride, my cheap watch and some blood. People saw what happened but nobody offer any help or bother to call the police and it happened in a train station. Can you believe it? That was not the first time. I was beaten up before as well when I was on my way home from school in my teenage year. How pathetic is that? I must be a bullying target.
I could have reported to the police but I did not. What’s the use? It can happen again. The whole thing struck me really hard that I may have appeared to be someone that could be pushed around easily. How could I stop all these?
After that shameful incident, I decided that I had enough and I need to do something about all this. I have to be bigger and look strong at least so all these bullying can stop. And at that time, I found a friend who lifts weight very regularly and I started lifting weights with him. And I always thought it’s very straight forward to get big and strong. Just train hard and heavy and drink protein shake but it’s not as simple as that. I was reading some “bodybuilding” magazines and used their advice and routine thinking that’s all it takes to get stronger but it did not happen the way the magazines articles had claimed.
Truth Unfold…
As I became wiser, I realised that those “bodybuilding” magazines are not giving people the true picture. Most or perhaps all the top bodybuilders used steriods in their training to get bigger and stronger. Unbelievable huh. The coveted prize in Pro Bodybuilding, the prestigious Joe Weider Mr Olympic Building Contest, actually do not test for steriods. I was floored when I found out all those superhuman physiques were not the results of 100% hard work. There is so much garbage information out there about training. And the source of those information will claim it work and never tell you that steriods has to be included.
I decided to stop been a meathead and start exploring what the real experts are doing in drug-free training. This led me to my passion in finding scientific based solutions to training constantly learning from reading (no hardcore bodybuilding magazines anymore), attending seminars and workshops to keep myself current with advanced training techniques.
My Passion in Fitness…
In terms of being a personal trainer in Perth and Singapore, I felt that I had come a long way. I’ve definitely seen a lot and had became wiser. I learned that I can’t accept everything that comes along the way that claims to be the best solution in everything. I got to tell ya that the fitness industry is a confusing industry. You hear so many different things about what works from yoga, pilates to BOSU balls and fitballs. In truth, some of it is garbage and certainly without a doubt some of it works in specific area of fitness.
Because I am passionate about the fitness and I feel that I owe it to my clients, I do my best to provide the best services and solutions to my personal training clients. In order to do that, I scrutinized every information about training and I always reading and researching for the best practice for the training and delivery of result.

My Career…
I had been a personal trainer since 2001 working in The American Club Singapore and Fitness First Australia in Perth before. And have been fortunate enough to be able to assist many people achieve their fitness goal especially in the area of fat loss. It’s been very satisfying to train and see overweight people lose weight and become happier people. Well not that I don’t train people for muscle and strength gain. I’m personally into strength training as well and so I do coach people on muscle and strength gain.
That’s me in the picture with former India Cricket Team captain, Ravi Shastri, who was then my client when I was in Singapore.
Right now, I am running kettlebell boot camp and women fitness boot camp as well as providing personal training in Perth. I also run a FREE Saturday boot camp in Nedlands for ladies as a way to give back to my boot camp members.
